Supporting Dads in Distress

Pro Patria Centre is proud to support the Wagga Wagga launch of Dads in Distress (DID), a national initiative providing vital support to separated fathers and families navigating the challenges of separation, divorce, and family breakdown.

The first local meeting will be held at the Pro Patria Centre on Wednesday, May 7 at 6:00 PM, with special guest Pete Nicholls, national CEO of Dads in Distress, alongside local facilitator Steve Watts. This event marks an important step forward in expanding peer support options for men in the Riverina region.

Dads in Distress offers:

  • Free, confidential peer support groups

  • Phone support and online resources

  • Help with parenting access, family court issues, child support, and domestic violence

  • Safe spaces for fathers to learn, connect, and heal

  • A “Dads for Dads” model of lived experience support

A public launch will follow on Thursday, May 8 at 6:00 PM at the Black Swan Hotel in North Wagga Wagga. This broader community event will raise awareness and invite conversation around the unique challenges faced by separated fathers.

At Pro Patria, we believe empowering families strengthens the whole community. We encourage all members, especially those connected to fathers navigating separation, to attend and spread the word about this life-changing service.
