What We Do

PPC helps the men and women who have served our country and their families connect, share experiences, and access support that complements existing ex‑Service Organisations. Our programs aim to build regional capacity to support veterans, first responders, and their families, ensuring they can thrive no matter the circumstances.

Who We Are

The Pro Patria Centre (PPC) is made up of leaders from military, business, health and community sectors who share a commitment to strengthening social connection for Veteran and First Responder communities. Based in a former monastery in Wagga Wagga, PPC is developing a diverse community hub for serving and ex‑serving members and their families.

Aligned with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy, PPC focuses on social connection, employment pathways, and veteran business support. The centre links national and state wellbeing expertise with local services, offering programs in person, via FIFO support, and through virtual delivery.

Our Mission

“At Pro Patria we aim to restore, regenerate and empower our veteran and first responder community with ongoing support, strategies and skills for life beyond service.”

Our Board

A Region Shaped by Service

Wagga Wagga and the broader Riverina are home to a significant Defence population, supported by two major training bases, Kapooka and RAAF Base Wagga, which train more than 5,000 personnel annually and employ over 1,000 staff. Many choose to settle in the region after service, creating a strong and growing veteran community.

With such a substantial Defence presence, fostering positive social connections is essential to the wellbeing of current personnel, veterans, and their families. PPC exists to strengthen those connections and support the community that has long supported Australia’s Defence capability.
