Pro Patria Centre  and Defence Shed Wagga awarded Veteran Wellbeing Grant

The Pro Patria Centre, in partnership with Defence Shed Wagga Wagga, is proud to be one of 46 recipients of the Australian Government’s Veteran Wellbeing Grants Program 2024–25.

Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Matt Keogh MP, today announced almost $3 million in funding for community-led initiatives that foster connection, promote health, and support the diverse needs of veterans and their families.

Our project has been awarded $71,054 to enhance the wellbeing of veterans and defence personnel through social connections and skill-building activities.

This grant gives us the ability to expand what we do at Defence Shed Wagga, with new skills training packages designed to build confidence, provide hands-on learning, and strengthen community ties.

From welding and 3D printing to peer mentoring and practical trade skills, these sessions will not only create opportunities for personal growth but also open pathways to new employment and community engagement.

We thank the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and Minister Keogh for recognising the importance of grass-roots programs like ours, which meet veterans where they are and support them in ways that work.
